Subject: BD Prevention Month - Focus on Smoking and Pregnancy
National Birth Defects Prevention Month continues! This week, CDC's
National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities
on smoking and pregnancy. As many of you know, smoking causes cancer,
heart disease, and other major health problems. But women who smoke
during pregnancy put themselves and their unborn babies at risk for
other health problems. The dangers of smoking during pregnancy include
premature birth, certain birth defects, and infant death.
This week's National Birth Defects Prevention Month activities from
CDC's National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities:
To promote health messages on smoking and pregnancy this week, NCBDDD
has developed a feature article and podcast.
